William Todd

Senior Head Coach

Tennis has been a passion of mine since I picked up a sponge ball and plastic racket 23 years ago.

I was coached and mentored by the previous number 1 in Mexico, and British LTA Coach of the Year 2017. I have also worked alongside coaches from Argentina, France, South Africa, Australia, America and the UK, some of whom have worked and train the like of Nick Bollettieri, Andy Roddick, Venus and Serena Williams and even Richard Branson.

I’ve also assisted in coaching top national juniors in the UK and USA, whilst training with them myself.

From 11 years of coaching all over the world, I have found that efficiency and simplicity are the two essential parts of coaching. This means that I can provide a fast, effective and most importantly simple coaching programme suited to each individual.

As a left handed coach and player, I’ve learnt to play right handed, whilst also extending my coaching experience through an interest in: strength and conditioning (CrossFit and Olympic lifting), physiotherapy and mobility.

As a player I achieved national level, playing tournaments around Europe and on the British National Men’s tour since the age of 14. I also trained at Elite Tennis Academy in Barcelona aged 12, and represent Bournemouth University National BUCS 1st team, where I also graduated with a BSC Sports Management Degree. Whilst studying I coached at the prestigious West Hants HPC (high performance centre), earning my level 2 LTA where I represented their national teams in both singles and doubles.

I have now lived in NZ for 4 years working my way up through Kiwi Tennis to Head Coach and Coach Developer, whilst working with the team to build Orakei Tennis Club to where it is today.  As a result of my experience and passion, I had the honour of being awarded Tennis Auckland Coach of the Year 2019/2020.
