Ella Finlay

Hi All, I’m Ella and I’m from the UK. I’m in New Zealand on my university placement year until April 2024.

I study Sport and Exercise Science in Bournemouth; I joined tennis at university, and it was one of the best decisions I made in my first year and I love the team so much. In my second year I took a job as the receptionist, grounds keeper and working the pro shop sales at a tennis club in the centre of town and here I made friends with the coaches and really got involved with the tennis community outside of university and helped at league matches and tournaments.

I signed up to coaching as it’s a great job to have at university. I did my LTA coaching qualification at the end of the academic year and had great fun completing it.

Throughout school, tennis was not my main sport, I actually had a huge involvement in athletics representing my county in regional meets all the way through school and rowing at many events across the year in head races and regattas around the country and at Eaton Dorney the Olympic Lake from the age of 14 to 18.

I am very excited and fortunate to be spending my placement year in such a wonderful place and working with great people!
